| Zolpidem in Hypertension |

Patient : 60 year old male patient Case History 60 year old male patient is a known hypertensive for the last 10 years. The patient came with chief complaints of headache since the last 7 days. The patient also complained of lack of sleep and lethargy since the last 3-4 weeks. The patient’s Blood Pressure (BP) on previous visit was 130/80mmHg. He is currently on Tablet Amlodipine 10mg once a day Examination Findings General examination: The patient’s BP was 140/90mmHg. The other vital parameters were within normal limits. The systemic examination of the cardiovascular system, central nervous system, respiratory system and alimentary system did not reveal any abnormalities. Treatment Tab. Amlodipine was continued at 10mg per day. Zolpidem was added to the therapy at a dose 10mg per day just before retiring. The patient was asked to follow up after 15 days. Follow up The patient followed up for examination after 15 days. The patient could sleep well after the therapy with Zolpidem. The patient felt energetic after a night of sound sleep. His BP was 130/80mmHg. The treatment with Zolpidem was continued for a period of 3 months. After Zolpidem was stopped the patient did not have either rebound insomnia or any alteration of the sleep pattern. |
